Dielectric Constant of N-Hexane as a Function of Temperature, Pressure, and Density

چکیده

A descript ion is give n of apparatus employing a ce ll that is both a bellows dilatometer and a threeterminal elec t rode se t for measuring simu ltaneous ly the d e nsity and diel ec tri c properties of liquids as func tions of temperature and pressure . Measurement s are possible at temperatures from .1 20 oK to over 300 oK and pressures from 1 to 2000 atm with an uncertainty of 0.03 percent. The denSity, dlelectnc consta nt , and Clausius-Mossotti function of n-hexane have been m~asur.ed for temperat.ures from 2~3 to 298 oK (50 to 25 °C) and at pressures from 1 to 2000 atm. There IS a Imear decrease m the Clau.slUsMossotti function with density and a decrease with temperature correspondmg to an effecllve dipole moment of 0.085 debye.
